Cekis (Nelson Rivas) career as a visual artist began within the streets of his native Santiago, Chile. He started painting murals in 1992 while still attending in high school. He was deeply Inspired by New York graffiti culture, and Chilean political mural propaganda from the 70’s and 80’s. In the mid/late 90’s his artwork was at the helm of a new generation of artists from the streets of South America.His murals transcended communities, and helped to create a new popular appeal for street culture in Chile. Today he is recognized as one of the pioneers of the hip hop graffiti movement in Latin America.Selected Group and Solo Exhibitions
